SP.99.07 Statutes and Reschooling of Academic Units within a College
From time to time there has been confusion about which statute to apply and when to apply it at the time a change in a unit is being contemplated. The Committee on University Statutes and Senate Procedures believes the Statutes are very clear on the matter. However, to make it even more clear, the committee recommends amending the Statutes, Article III, Section 2 by adding a subsection after subsection 2.d and relabeling the remaining subsections accordingly. Members of the committee believe there should be almost no exceptions to the application of either Article III or Article VIII, especially in view of Senate resolutions on the matter.
The Committee on University Statutes and Senate Procedures recommends approval of the revisions to the Statutes, Article III, Section 2.e.
PROPOSED REVISION TO THE STATUTES, ARTICLE III, SECTION 2.E
e. In the case of formation or changes in the organization of academic units, such as termination, separation, transfer, merger, change in status (e.g., department to school), or renaming, Article VIII of these Statutes shall apply.
Relabel existing Sections 2.e and 2.f to 2.f and 2.g.
