(Final; Action)
SP.06.08 Revision to the Bylaws, Part D 8. – Committee on Educational Policy
BACKGROUND
Senate Bylaws, Part D 1. (c), reads, in part, “The Senate Executive Committee chair shall be released from other academic duties for one-half time, with this appointment funded from campus resources.”
The Senate Executive Committee (SEC) recently discussed the workload of the Senate Committee on Educational Policy (EPC). It is clear that the EPC Chair position is a very demanding one that would greatly benefit from a release time provision in the Bylaws similar to that noted above for the SEC Chair, or at least a one course released time for the academic year.
After approving this recommendation, the SEC charged its Chair with securing the approval of the campus to fund this appointment. Subsequently, the campus agreed to do so.
RECOMMENDATIONS
