RS.02.01 Resolution Concerning Senate Discourse

WHEREAS, the Urbana-Champaign Senate is a deliberative body of governance for faculty and students;

WHEREAS, the Senate has University Statutory responsibilities;

WHEREAS, freedom of speech for all Senators and presiding officers is essential for its deliberations;

And WHEREAS, the discourse of the Senate has been historically distinguished by courtesy and mutual respect;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate maintain such standards of courtesy and mutual respect in its deliberations, whether during Senate meetings or meetings of Senate committees.
