Information for Senators Joining a Senate Meeting via Zoom Webinar
When joining the meeting via Zoom webinar, please be sure that your first and last name are displayed in Zoom. You must be clearly identifiable as a senator in order to participate in the meeting. Senate Office staff will rename senators with an asterisk (*) at the beginning of the senator’s name.
If you plan to call into the meeting, please let the Senate Office know what your phone number is so you can be recorded as in attendance.
Use Poll Everywhere to vote during the meeting. Be sure to register and logon prior to the meeting.
A limited version of Zoom Chat will be available for use by senators during Senate meetings. Chat message will ONLY be visible to Panelists/Hosts. Chat messages will ONLY be read by Senate Office Staff. Chat is NOT for troubleshooting technical difficulties – contact the Senate Office staff via email (senate@illinois.edu) or phone (217-333-6805).
The limited chat feature should ONLY be used for the following:
- Seconding a motion
- Raising an objection
- Raising a point of order or other procedural motion/inquiry

Franci and Barb will be available during the meeting to help troubleshoot any technical issues. Password issues must be sent to Poll Everywhere.
ABSENCES: If you are a senator and unable to attend the Senate meeting on Monday, you must notify the Clerk of the Senate (senate@illinois.edu) of your absence prior to the meeting for the absence to be recorded as excused (no explanation required).
