SP.04.07 Revision to the Bylaws, Part D.9(b) - Committee on Educational Policy, Membership

BACKGROUND
The Office of Continuing Education has requested membership on the Committee on Educational Policy (EP). As professionals in the field of continuing higher education, the Office of Continuing Education is well positioned to bring a valuable perspective to EP regarding issues and trends in extended education and external degrees, in distance education, and in continuing professional education. EP concurs with these recommendations.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The Senate Committee on University Statutes and Senate Procedures recommends approval of the following revisions to the Bylaws. Text to be deleted is indicated in [square brackets] and text to be added is underscored.

PROPOSED REVISIONS TO THE BYLAWS, PART D.9(b)

9. Committee on Educational Policy

(b) Membership

The Committee shall consist of:

1. Thirteen faculty members,
2. Five students, of whom at least one shall be a graduate student, at least two shall be undergraduate students, and no more than one shall be a professional student,
3. The Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs or the Vice-Chancellor's designee (ex officio),
4. The Director of Admissions and Records or the Director's designee (ex officio),
5. The Executive Director of the Council on Teacher Education or the Director's designee (ex officio), [and]
6. A representative of the Committee of Assistant and Associate Deans (ex officio), and
7. The Director of the Office of Continuing Education or the Director's designee (ex officio).
